Who says hackathons are only for techies? This past weekend we participated in one of our own.

In the 10 years we’ve lived in this apartment, I had rarely gone up to the roof. But in the early pandemic, a new routine emerged.

Every week my guitar teacher asks me to name a song to work on for the following week. For the first few weeks I would draw a complete blank, but now I’ve started showing up to my lesson prepared with a song.

Yes, the humble pressure cooker. Or simply “cooker”. The one indisputable item in every Indian’s suitcase when they move abroad. And yes, it was in mine too. Not once, but twice.

Back in March when my community darkroom closed due to the pandemic, some friends purchased chemicals to develop film at home. Without the interaction required for portraits, and not going out onto the streets either, my photography had slowed to a trickle anyway, so I wasn’t especially eager to jump on the bandwagon.

Away from the madness of maximizing likes by optimizing hashtags within my carefully crafted niche on Instagram, here I shall happily muse away in complete obscurity.
